DR. WARREN W. STURM, DDS
Dr. Warren Sturm came to our practice in 1981,
and continues to be committed to providing our
patients with quality dental care. Originally from
Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dr. Sturm received his
undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University
and his D.D.S. from the University of Minnesota.
After dental school Dr. Sturm served in the US
Public Health Service for three years, working in
New York City and Charleston, SC, gaining broad
experience in many facets of dental care. Since
settling in Charlotte, Dr. Sturm has accumulated
over 1000 hours of continuing education. He says his favorite aspect of dentistry is educating patients about treatment options for his or her dental problems.
Dr. Sturm is a member of numerous dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, NC Dental Society, Charlotte Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He is on the Medical and Dental staff at Carolinas Medical Center. Dr. Sturm’s community affiliations include work with Communities in Schools, Physicians Reach Out, the NC Baptist Dental Bus, and Give Kids a Smile. His hobbies include reading, travel, music (he plays trombone in two area bands), mountain and road biking.
DR. TANNIS E. BROWN, DDS
Dr Tannis Brown has practiced dentistry in
Charlotte since 1998. A native of London, Ontario,
Canada, Dr Brown graduated with honors from
the DDS program at the University of Western
Ontario. In 2000 Dr Brown completed an
advanced dental residency program at CMC in
Charlotte, NC. She is currently serving as a
part-time attending at CMC, sharing her
knowledge and experience with recent dental
school graduates and acting as Vice-Chief for the
Dental Executive Committee at the hospital.
During her time at CMC, Dr Brown has had the privilege of gaining many experiences in both medicine and dentistry working closely with a number of specialists in the community.
Dr Brown believes it is important to build a relationship with patients and their families treating them the way she would want to be treated if she were the patient. This includes explaining treatment options thoroughly to patients based on her knowledge, education and experience, and allowing them to make their own, informed decision, about what is right for them.
A former competitive swimmer and marathon runner, Dr Brown continues to stay active. She and her husband enjoy boating, swimming and running. They run many charity races together but spend most of their time trying to keep up to their 2 little girls (4 year old, Drew and 2 year old, Megan).
DR. EMILY N. SNAPP, DDS
Dr. Emily Snapp has practiced dentistry in
Charlotte since 2004. Originally from the
Richmond, VA area, Dr. Snapp completed her
undergraduate degree in Biology at Virginia Tech
and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from
the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Snapp feels the most enjoyable part of
practicing dentistry is having the opportunity to
change a patient’s self confidence by creating a
smile they can be proud to show. Her practice
philosophy is to treat each patient like she was
treating a family member.
Dr. Snapp is very active in continuing education programs throughout the year. She has been a member of the Seattle Study Club Outer Loop Education in South Charlotte. She participates in the Give Kids a Smile outreach program. Dr. Snapp is an avid Virginia Tech Hokie football fan, enjoys gardening, and running in various charity races throughout the year. Dr. Snapp and her husband, Chris, really love the Charlotte area.
DR. HENRY PATTERSON, OUR FOUNDER
Dr. Patterson started our practice in 1963, in a little house on Seneca Place. At the time, that was considered to be on the far southern edge of Charlotte! It was Dr. Patterson’s knack for making people feel at ease and operating a practice that felt like a family that provided the model for how we want our practice to feel today. It’s amazing how many patients now in our practice have been coming since the 1960’s.
A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and Emory University School of Dentistry, Dr. Patterson is fondly remembered by long-time patients for his sense of humor and for the woodworking projects he had going in the back room of the office. In 1985 Dr. Patterson retired from dentistry and moved to Hickory, NC, his home town. He jokes that “retirement never took” for him, as he has worked in dentistry, in data services, and most recently has been ordained an Anglican priest. He currently has charge of two parishes, in Hickory and in Landrum, SC.
